Acumatica 2024 R2 introduces over 350 enhancements and fixes for multiple modules, including Financial Management, Customer Management (CRM module), the Manufacturing Edition suite, Inventory Management, Order Management, the Retail Commerce Edition (omnichannel and ecommerce suite), the Project Accounting module and the Construction Edition. There were also several improvements added for the core xRP platform that powers Acumatica’s architecture, bringing new levels of functionality for users and capabilities for developers to build on.
This blog outlines some of the top features and updates that come with the second annual release of 2024 for Acumatica Cloud ERP:
Financial Management Suite
The Financial Management suite provides a host of modules and functions for accounting teams, from a master General Ledger (GL) and Accounts Payable / Receivable to Fixed Asset and Payroll management. Acumatica 2024 R2 introduced several enhancements and fixes for different types and levels of transactions, both for outgoing and incoming payments:
- Prepayment Invoices: The new prepayment invoice feature allows users to generate and manage prepayments for items and services, including for individual sales orders and accounts receivables invoices, with taxes automatically calculated for each transaction
- Bank Feed File Upload: Acumatica now supports loading bank transactions from files located in Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) folders
- Bank Transaction Matching: Users can match receipt bank transactions to debit adjustments on the Match to Invoices tab of the Process Bank Transactions form
- Reconciliation Statement Approval: The system now supports the approval of reconciliation statements to fit organizations’ internal control and financial audit procedures
- Synchronization Schedule for Payments: Acumatica ERP 2024 R2 introduces a predefined synchronization schedule for validating card payments, once per day by default
Acumatica CRM Module
Customer Management is the CRM (customer relationship management) app of Acumatica Cloud ERP, offering seamless integration for client data and prospecting workflows with the rest of your system modules. The second major update for 2024 added feature updates for service and contact activities, including:
- New Case Activity: The system now automatically creates an initial system activity for a new case at the moment of case creation if no initial activity exists
- Case Response Times Inquiry Forms: The new Case Response Times (CR3066BI) and Case Initial Response Times (CR3065BI) inquiry forms track and display response time statistics for customer cases
- Case Resolution Times Inquiry Form: The Case Resolution Times (CR3067BI) inquiry form tracks the resolution time for cases. It shows whether the case resolution was provided by the due date, and includes fields such as “Solution Provided On”
- Email Template Placement: Users can now select where to insert email template data in emails, with options including replacing the email body, inserting after the email body, or inserting before the email body
Acumatica Manufacturing Edition
Acumatica Manufacturing Edition comes with several integrated modules that automate controls and activities across your supply chain, from resource procurement and processing to production and storage. The 2024 R2 launch saw several updates to existing functionality as well as new features for end-to-end reporting:
- Estimating Functionality: Users can now create estimates with multiple price points based on the quantity of units a customer plans to purchase, all within the same revision
- Production Order Linking: A new Related Production tab has been added to the Production Order Maintenance (AM201500) form, allowing users to view parent and child orders in a single view
- Outside Processing Management: The system can now be configured to automatically create and release move and material transactions when purchase orders are received
- Project Inventory Tracking: Manufacturing now supports project-specific inventory tracking in production orders if the Projects feature is enabled
- Production Order Performance Report: The report now includes more detailed information, such as labor hours, costs, overhead by operation, and all transactions related to materials and labor
- Support of User-Defined Fields: Numerous manufacturing forms now support user-defined fields (UDF)
Inventory Management and Order Management
The Inventory Management and Order Management modules each give expanded and consistent insight into stock levels and movement as well as connected transactions, giving you a 360-degree view of your supply and value chains from within your ERP. Acumatica 2024 R2 introduces several improvements for areas such as inventory tracking, order processing, stock allocation and more:
- Purchase Receipt Verification: A warehouse manager or receiving clerk can verify a purchase receipt confirmed by a warehouse worker and make corrections to quantities before releasing the receipt
- Stock Allocation with Multiple UOMs: The system now handles stock items with multiple UOMs differently when it partially allocates for a sales order an item that is either lot tracked or not tracked, addressing issues with rounding errors that could occur in previous versions
- RMA Order Processing: Prepayment requirements can now be enforced for Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) orders with specified credit terms
- Requisition Processing: The system allows for the creation of new sales or purchase orders if previously related orders were deleted
- Intercompany Sales Order Shipments: Multiple intercompany sales orders can now be consolidated into a single shipment, aligning with standard sales order functionality
- AP Bill Approval on Estimated Purchase Price: The system now calculates the estimated purchase price variance for an item in an AP bill or debit adjustment against the related purchase receipt or return before the release of the document
- Shipments Packed in External Systems: A new “Packaging Processed in External System” check box has been added to bypass license limits on the number of packages when a shipment is uploaded via API or import scenario
- Update Movement Class Form: The Update Movement Class form has been redesigned for consistency and ease of use in mass-processing tasks
- Hide Alternate IDs of the Barcode Type: A new “Display Barcodes in Order Lines” check box has been added to control whether barcodes are inserted into sales and purchase order lines
Acumatica Retail Commerce Edition
The Acumatica Retail Commerce Edition provides online, brick-and-mortar and omnichannel retailers with a foundation for building out connected eCommerce storefronts and optimizing the digital customer journey. Acumatica 2024 R2 offers better integration with popular platforms like Amazon and Shopify, and additional automation for key aspects of order processing, returns and more:
- Amazon Returns and Refunds: Acumatica now supports the import of returns and refunds from Amazon stores, including seller-fulfilled and marketplace-fulfilled refunds
- Amazon Payment Sync: Payments for Amazon orders shipped in parts can now be consolidated into a single payment document once the order is fully shipped
- Shopify Imports: The system now creates better references between contacts and locations imported from Shopify to support the Shopify hierarchy and avoid duplication
- Shopify Payment Terms: The payment terms specified for Shopify orders can now be imported to Acumatica ERP sales orders
- Shopify Pricing Rules: Acumatica ERP now supports defining volume pricing and quantity rules at the price-list level and exporting these rules to Shopify
- Volume Pricing and Quantity Rules: Users can now define volume pricing and quantity rules at the price-list level and export these rules to Shopify
- UI Enhancements for Retail Forms: Multiple improvements have been made to forms related to Retail Edition, including renaming tabs and sections, reorganizing layouts, and adding Edit buttons
- Sync History: The Created Date (External) and Created Date (ERP) columns have been added to the Sync History form
Acumatica Construction Edition
Acumatica Construction Editions comes equipped with multiple project management capabilities, from budgeting to AIA billing to field reporting. The second biannual release for 2024 expanded this functionality with more report features and other upgrades:
- Pro Forma Invoices: Users can create pro forma invoices directly on the Pro Forma Invoices (PM307000) form regardless of the state of the migration mode
- Account and Subaccount Setup: Users can set up the accounts and subaccounts of reason codes (CS211000) and posting classes to be copied from the project and project tasks
- Project Quote Workflow: The project quote workflow now includes additional workflow statuses and commands, such as “Mark as Accepted” and “Mark as Declined”
- Substantiated Billing Reports: The Substantiated Billing (PM650000) reports now support filtering by pro forma invoices and include line-level attachments
- AP for Subcontractors: Subcontracts can now be imported when migration mode is active for accounts payable
- Commitment Tracking: Commitments can now be processed only if the accounts in document lines are mapped to an account group
- WIP Reports: The Project WIP (PM651500) report now includes new columns and improved logic for tracking project financial performance
- Weather Services Feature: A new Weather Services check box has been added to the Construction Project Management group of features
xRP Platform
The xRP Platform provides Acumatica users with a flexible – yet powerful – software architecture that lets non-technical employees tailor their own workflows and reporting with low-code / no-code customization features, and developers refine the back-end as your business needs. This release added several additions to Acumatica Cloud ERP’s framework, including:
- New URLs for OData: Acumatica 2024 R2 introduces new URLs for OData interfaces, with generic inquiry-based OData and DAC-based OData URLs, continuing support for legacy URLs until Acumatica ERP 2025 R2
- Removed Records in DAC-Based OData: Removed records can now be retrieved through the DAC-based OData interface by using the PX-ApiDeleted HTTP header
- Acumatica Report Designer: The Report Designer now uses internal REST API and features a new process for data source selection
- Anomaly Detection in Generic Inquiries: Anomaly detection has been introduced for numeric data in generic inquiries (GI), allowing for the identification of abnormal values using machine learning models
- Integration Scenarios: Enhancements include a new Excel Provider with Data Types for exporting data, support for branch selection in import scenario mapping, and the ability to use the Recalculate Prices command in integration scenarios
- Multiselect Fields: New MultiselectSubstituteAll and MultiselectSubstituteListed functions support handling of selecting multiple fields in import/export scenarios
- Copy / Paste: Developers can now specify fields to remain empty when copying and pasting documents using the PXCopyPasteEmptyFields attribute
