New Features in Sage 100 Payroll 2.21.1
This newest version of Sage 100 Payroll 2.21.1 helps address a range of tricky tax and employment filings resulting from the changing rules over the past year. Key additions to Sage Payroll include:
Tax Additions
- Rates and Limits Button Added
A new Rates and Limits button has been added to Tax Profile Maintenance. With this button, Sage 100 users can view the flat tax rate, tax limit (if any), and indicators of whether tax is enabled or overridden in the tax profile or Company Tax Group Setup.
- Deferred Social Security Tax Payments Insight
In 2020, businesses were allowed to defer the payments of employee Social Security tax per Presidential executive order. To help pay those deferred payments back, Sage 100 Payroll 2.21 has added:
-
- A Payback Deduction Code field used for withholding the employee social security tax that was deferred in 2020
- An “Apply” option that asks you if you want to calculate the payback amount and goal after selecting the Payback Deduction Code
- Quick view options showing the Paid Back field in the Benefits window in the Employee Tax Summary, which updates automatically when payroll is processed
- Custom reports to print Social Security tax amounts paid back for each employee and amount of deferred Social Security tax that has notbeen paid back for each employee
ACA Additions
- Full ACA Worktable Added
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) Personally Identifiable Information (PII) worktable, now available in Sage 100 Payroll 2.21, compiles personally identifiable information collected in ACA-related tasks.
By compiling all the PII collected across a range of company and system tables, it will be easier for you to maintain insight into where personally identifiable information is stored in your system.
Note: The ACA PII worktable is only available in Report manager if you are using Sage 100 2019.5 or later, Sage 100 2020.2 or later, or Sage 100 2021 or later.
- ACA Offer of Coverage Codes Added
Affordable Care Act Offer of Coverage Codes have been added to Sage 100 Payroll 2.21.1 for Federal and State tax reporting.
Unemployment Additions
- Unemployment Tax ID Number Field Added
An Unemployment Tax ID Number field has been added to the Main tab in the Company Tax Group Setup, which you can use to enter your state unemployment tax ID.
Note: This field is only available for state tax groups and can be left blank.
Business Performance Additions
- Expanded Check Number Field
To serve you better, Sage 100 Payroll 2.21.1 delivers expanded check number fields that can now handle up to 10 characters. The direct deposit stub number field has also been expanded and can now hold 9 characters. These expansions flow throughout key areas in the Sage 100 Payroll system.
Note: This enhancement is only available for Sage 100 version 2021 and later, so you will only see 6 characters available for check numbers and 5 characters for direct deposit stubs until you upgrade to Sage 100 2021. We expect Sage 100 version 2021 to be released in April.
- Direct Deposit Payroll Processing Window Changed
The Process Employee Pre-note and Direct Deposit Transactions window have been changed to deliver a wider window with no need for scrolling and, to aid in understanding, the windows now only show batches that have not been processed by default.
To view other batches, you can now click the Show Sent/Unsent Batches button (but please exercise caution when working with batches that have an effective date in the past).
