Read These Tips to Improve Your Installation Process
To set the stage for a successful installation, keep these tips in mind:
- Refer to this documentation on Sage Knowledgebase for complete installation instructions.
- Important: If you are deploying a multiuser environment on a network, you must first install Sage 50 on the server computer. Then, install Sage 50 on each workstation. Sage 50 workstations connect to the server and access transactions and records stored in the Company Data files.
- If you choose to install over the previous version, your company data will NOT be overwritten. When you open the company for the first time with the new release, the Conversion Wizard will automatically update the data files to work with the latest release.
- If you install to a new computer, you will keep your previous version of Sage 50. If you choose to keep the older version, but convert your company data to the newest release, you will NOT be able to access that data with the old release.
- Verify all computers meet the minimum system requirements. Refer to System Requirements: Sage 50—U.S. Edition 2024.
- If you have customizations, please ask for help before you get started. SWK Technologies can help you identify if your customizations or add-ons are compatible with the latest version of Sage 50 – contact us here.
- Before starting the install, close all other Microsoft and non-essential programs on the computer.
- Turn off your anti-virus for the duration of the installation process, but leave your firewall on and enable notifications.
- Make sure the User Account Control (UAC) is set to a minimum, not maximum. This may require Admin access. Consult with IT personnel if necessary.
- Check to make sure all your printers work after your installation.
